Description

The purpose of the Society is to provide specialist services designed to meet the needs of all blind and partially sighted people, and their carers, who reside in the City of Dundee.

The Society provides statutory services on behalf of Dundee City Council Social Work Department and services of its own, including:
- full assessment of need including low vision assessment and the chance to order magnifiers and other devices
- rehabilitation service
- braille, Moon and computer training (using speech or magnification software)
- resource room with useful aids and equipment to try
- awareness training programme
- social groups, outings and activities (bingo, crafts, teas, dances, reminiscence group, and more)
- welfare rights advice
- volunteer support
- audio library
- transport assistance available to and from the Society's events
- transcription service

DBPSS also hold the register of blind and partially sighted people for Dundee City Council.
