The Association was established to promote the welfare of the blind and partially sighted residents in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames. To this end the Association co-operates with, and assists, the Royal Borough.

The Association acts as the coordinating body for social clubs within the Borough such as:
- Kingston Macular Disease Support Group
- Eye Contact Group
- New Malden Blind Club
- Surbiton Club for the Blind
- Social Eyes Blind Club.

The Association makes grants to those in need for items which will directly help with their loss of vision.

The Association runs a Buddy Scheme that provides trained volunteers to help people in their homes with everyday tasks such as reading letters, making tea and some short trips as well as companionship.

The Association is always looking for volunteers to help with the Buddy Scheme and also at the various clubs

The Association also supports the weekly Talking Newspaper.
