MBWS is a voluntary organisation looking after the needs of blind and partially sighted people on the Isle of Man. Full-time staff are employed and as many services as possible are provided in conjunction with partners, RNIB and Social Services.

The Society offers:
- advice and support in obtaining benefits and other assistance
- home visiting
- specialist equipment, eg CCTV, scanner, computer with text magnification and speech synthesis
- lessons in touch typing and computer skills
- extensive tape library
- toy library
- social groups are held four times a week with guest speakers, lunches and outings
- leisure and sporting activities including short mat bowls and sailing
- news reading service, quarterly newsletter in print, braille or tape
- agent for RNIB Talking Book Service and Wireless for the Blind Fund.
