Organisation details

Description

The spoken local news and information service for blind or partially sighted people in Chelmsford. Recordings are posted each week, usually arriving on Saturday morning.

A team of volunteers records a spoken version of the Essex Chronicle each week. These are not computerised voices, it is real people with real voices.

As well as the News and Entertainment sections of the paper, the recording includes the Family Announcements so listeners can keep track of old friends and colleagues. The volunteers also record an occasional Magazine with useful and interesting information, stories and articles.

Our service is available to anyone in the Chelmsford area who has difficulty reading newspapers or other printed material.

We welcome new listeners – it is not necessary to be registered as blind or partially sighted to receive the service. Other people who have difficulty reading a newspaper can also enjoy the service – but may have to pay postage.
