My daughter has a CVI and yet I and school have been told she uses her vision so well that they don't want to see her again until she transfers to Secondary School. Awful service as MPH were surprised no real support given by Vision Support Team. I urge the Vision Support Team to send at least one of their members of staff to wescs annual international conference. It seems there is a total lack of real knowledge about CVI visual impairment within the contact we've had with the team. This conference takes place on May 5th 2016 in Exeter and has the UK expert of CVI speaking as well as other international experts. I understand that the Vision Support Team only works term times so cannot speak to you direct about this. I feel for your Service to improve you need to know and understand CVI and how it affects learning at school and then maybe you will realise it's a proper and serious visual impairment which deserves your support within the school environment. You can then be a true Vision Support Team, it's not just how good the child appears to 'see' it's about how they process what they see - and that's a CVI. Have given your service 2 stars because you exist and I really hope that our experience can only get better with you in the future, especially if you take the care of learning about CVI and starting to support children properly in schools with this significant VI.
