My daughter and I were referred to the ECLO within Wrexham hospital 6 months ago. It was an incredibly emotional time for us both, as we were trying to come to terms with my daughters sight loss. But we needn’t of worried, as John was there to support us and signpost where we needed him to. My daughter says it was just nice to have someone to support us, who could relate to her new found disabilities. We were signposted to an ECLO officer closer to home, who was equally as nice. However when we needed help again last week, we discovered our ECLO has changed jobs. With this in mind I called John and he was as always very pleased to speak to us, and once again took it upon himself to advocate on my daughters behalf to deal with our enquiry straight away. Within a few days we were getting back on track and know that we are not alone. Sight loss is so incredibly difficult to navigate for all of those effected by it, and until we had access to an ECLO, we didn’t realise what support we could access in our community. My daughter trusts so few people since the start of her journey through her illness, but she trusts John and that makes our journey a bit more bearable.
