Newcastle Disability Forum
Newcastle Disability Forum was established in 1988 in response to a growing feeling that disabled people should have a genuine influence over City policies concerning everything from access and transport to education, training and housing. NDF regularly contributes to City Council decision-making processes and is frequently consulted by health providers on a range of emerging issues.
Activities run by NDF include a coffee club, a reading group and a free ICT support service which sends teachers into the homes of disabled people to teach and support clients with computer skills of their own choice and at their own pace. Skills taught include how to use screen reading and magnification software.
