Organisation details
Sutton Talking Newspaper (STN), a charity run entirely by volunteers, who provide local news taken from The Sutton Guardian, onto CDs, memory sticks and Internet radio, for blind & visually impaired people in the London Borough of Sutton.
In addition there is a magazine-type programme, “The Clarion”, with articles of specific interest for the blind (e.g. latest aids and equipment, financial advice, etc.) together with items of more general interest.
Memory stick listeners can also enjoy recordings of several popular weekly & monthly magazines such as “Hello”, “My Weekly” and “BBC History”, providing over 22 hours of varied topics of interest on a weekly basis.
There is no charge for the service and no postal costs, as these are covered under Articles for the Blind.
If you, or a relative or friend, can no longer read the local newspapers because of poor sight, you may be interested to receive our weekly recordings of news from the local papers.
