Organisation details
Lothiansound is a registered Scottish charity, founded in 1988 and run entirely by volunteers.
Supplied free of charge - for listeners who are registered blind or partially sighted. Even the postage is free thanks to the Post Office “Articles for the Blind” arrangement.
Lothiansound produces:
- a weekly audio digest of news and events, read mainly from the Edinburgh Evening News. Apart from news items, there is a Scottish quiz and notices. These can vary from holidays for visually impaired people to audio description in local theatres or contact details for useful information.
- a monthly recording of articles from The Scots Magazine
Lothiansound sends CDs and memory sticks to Listeners all over UK and even overseas.
